Organic–Inorganic Hybrid Nanoparticles with a Complex Hollow Structure

Abstract: Secret chambers: Organic–inorganic hybrid nanoparticles (see picture) with a complex hollow structure were prepared by the self‐assembly of a reactive block copolymer, poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐poly[3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate], in DMF/water. Within these hybrid large‐compound vesicles, several cavities are separated by crosslinked hybrid bilayers of uniform thickness.

“…The peak was also shifted gradually to higher molecular weight and the PDI became narrower with the increase of the feed ratio of TPM ( Table 1), indicating that the RAFT polymerization occurred and the well controlled copolymers were obtained. Polyurethane prepared by condensation polymerization, as 20 Guo et al -eXPRESS Polymer Letters Vol.4, No.1 (2010) [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] Figure 2. Gel permeation chromatograms of PU and PU-PTPM copolymer precursors known, has a high PDI.…”

“…[12] Moreover, the transformation from siliceous unilamellar vesicles to nanofoams induced by high ionic strength is similar to the formation of large compound vesicles (LCVs) in the presence of a high concentration of ions. [27,28] In our experiments, it has been noticed that the solidification time for vesicles (pH 5, C t = 0.05 M, T = 40°C) and nanofoams (pH 5, C t = 0.20 M, T = 40°C) is 25 and 10 min, respectively. The silicate species are more condensed for vesicles and the vesicular morphology may be "frozen" after precipitation.…”
