Oral Hygiene Status among Pregnant Women

Dermatoglyphics is the scientific study of fingerprints, lines, mounts and shapes of hands, as distinct from the superficially similar pseudoscience of palmistry. Dermatoglyphics also refers to the making of naturally occurring ridges on specific body parts, namely palms, fingers, soles, and toes. These are areas where hair usually does not grow, and these ridges allow for increased leverage when picking up objects or walking barefoot. Learning new things and being an informative person have always been the goals of human beings, so coming to know about the human hand was also new information and created a great interest in individuals of various fields. Palms and soles of feet are covered with distinct classes of marks, So the study of fingerprints is called dermatoglyphics. Palmistry is called dermatoglyphics. The fingerprints patterns do not change throughout the lifetime. There are three types of significant fingerprints, Arches, loops, whorls. Dermatoglyphics is majorly used in an investigation. It also helps find a person’s uniqueness and helps in personalised education. The study aimed to assess the knowledge about dermatoglyphics among dental students. A questionnaire was designed online using google docs which consisted of 15 questions eliciting knowledge on dermatoglyphics. The study population included dental students. The responses were collected and statistically analysed. The results were partly biased, but on the whole, the dental students were aware of the basic details of dermatoglyphics. The survey concluded the dental students were partly aware, but at the end of the survey, they had got a clear idea about dermatoglyphics and its uses in different fields.

COVID-19 is pneumonia associated viral infection that originated from Wuhan city in December 2019. The virus appears to be spherical in appearance with proteins called spikes protruding from the surface. Ayurveda plays a vital role in boosting the immunity of our body against the pandemic outbreak COVID-19. The study aims to be aware of possible Ayurvedic treatment to prevent COVID-19. An online survey was conducted with a self-structured questionnaire using an online survey platform google forms. The link was shared through social media. A total of 100 responses were received. The responses recorded from the participants showed that the participants possess adequate knowledge about the covid-19 infection, and they possess sufficient awareness of the possible role of Ayurveda on boosting immunity against COVID-19. Around 68% of the respondents showed positive responses towards ayurvedic treatment to prevent COVID-19.Showing responses for questions about diet patterns, plays a vital role in preventing COVID19 - positive responses is 41%. The study concluded that during this pandemic outbreak, most of the participants are aware of the origin, cause, mode of the spread, treatment options and the initiatives taken by the government to prevent this pandemic. So, therefore, it concludes that Ayurveda plays a significant role in the process of boosting immunity against covid-19.

An assessment of various factors in patients who underwent full mouth rehabilitation in a university hospital set up

The best treatment option available for treating any generalised tooth structure loss is to undergo full mouth rehabilitation. Full mouth rehabilitation aims at restoration of form and function of masticatory apparatus to nearly as normal condition as possible. The aim of the study was to report on the gender distribution and most common cause for full mouth rehabilitation among patients with FMR in a private dental college over six months of period. A retrospective study was done using the case records of patients visiting University hospital from June 2019 - March 2020. Case sheets with information on full mouth rehabilitation were retrieved and analysed using SPSS 20.0 software. Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests were performed. The results reported that there were no particular differences in gender distribution. Both females and males had equal predilection(50 % - males, 50 % - Females).Majority of the males who are diagnosed with FMR were in the age group 59 to 68 years whereas females diagnosed with FMR were in the age group 49 to 58 years which was found to be statistically significant as determined by chi-square tests(p value< 0.05).The most common reason in males for full mouth rehabilitation was attrition whereas in females multiple missing teeth, however, there was no significant association between the genders and cause of full mouth rehabilitation as determined by Pearson's chi-square test (p value> 0.05). Within the limits of the study, it can be concluded that Full mouth rehabilitation was done in both genders equally and females underwent FMR at a much younger age than males.
