“…The trend of optical loss illustrates the highest and lowest values of ~5% (1500 W) and ~2% (1000 W), respectively. This result is attributed to the consequences of light scattering induced by O V defects [ 45 ]. Another possible reason is that the slight absorption of free carriers in O V defects, leading to the narrowing of band gap (Eg) [ 46 , 47 ].…”

“…Figure a shows XRD analysis in the Bragg–Brentano geometry of the FTO substrate, FTO-Bi, and FTO-BiVO 4 . The FTO shows the characteristic peaks corresponding to the tetragonal SnO 2 structure and located at 2θ = 26.4° (110), 37.7° (200), and 51.4° (211). , After electrochemical deposition via pulse plating, the diffraction pattern from FTO-Bi showed the peaks corresponding to the rhombohedral structure of metallic bismuth, with the main peak at 2θ = 27.5° . Once the thermochemical treatment is achieved, this peak disappears and well-defined peaks associated to the monoclinic phase of BiVO 4 are detected in the FTO-BiVO 4 PE, indicating that all metallic bismuth was changed to BiVO 4 , at least in the detection limit of the X-ray analysis.…”

“…This is indicative of the EC behavior of a-WO 3 to reversibly vary the color from deep blue in the colored state to transparent in the bleached state and vice versa, by double insertion/ extraction of electrons and Li ions into/out of the films, as indicated by the following equation (Eq. (1)) 50 :…”
