Optimum rotation for harvesting of cajuput leave at KPH Yogyakarta

Abstract: The productivity of cajuput plantation has improved through tree breeding, while manipulation of site and management engineering of timber plantations have been less attention. Management engineering can be obtained by determining the optimum cycle of cajuput leaves harvesting. This study aims to determine the optimum cycling of cajuput leaves harvesting at KPH Yogyakarta by considering the biological cycles of cajuput leaves, chemical physical properties, and the yield of cajuput oil. The tools used in the re… Show more

“…In addition, to analyze the effect of seasonality on the essential oils of this species, the collection period was nine months, from August 2017 to April 2018. Comprehensive data on field conditions and plot experimental selection were defined in parallel work (Mulyana, Rohman, & Wardhana, 2018;Mulyana, Siallagan, Yuwono, & Purwanto, 2019). During the collection period, higher rainfall was recorded in the months of November, December, January, and March (Table 1).…”

“…The physical traits, i.e., specific gravity, refractive index, and solubility in alcohol as well as essential oil yield, ranged from 0.874 to 0.955, 1.461 to 1.468, 1:1 to 1:7, and 0.17 to 0.67%, respectively (Mulyana et al, 2019). In general, all parameters were qualified according to SNI (2006) (Badan Standardisasi Nasional, 2006 and ISO 4730 (the International Organization for Standardization 4730, 2017).…”

“…Hasil laboratorium penyulingan pertama menghasilkan kadar sineol sekitar 78,51% dan hasil dari penyulingan kedua sekitar 71,03% memenuhi standar SNI yang dimana termasuk dalam kelas mutu super karena lebih 60%. Penelitian (Mulyana et al, 2019) menjadi pendukung bahwa hasil kadar sineol yang didapatkan sebesar 55% telah memnuhi syarat.…”

“…The cajuput tree is a plant species proven to have high survival rates when planted on post-mining land (Melaleuca cajuputi Powell). This plant has both environmental and socio-economic benefits [4]. The cajuput tree could survive on marginal land due to its ability to adapt to acidic, dry, or flooded soils.…”
