La présente étude porte sur les potentialités de la lignine issue de la cuisson sulfate de l’alfa grass à éliminer le Cr (VI) des solutions aqueuses. Les variations du pH, de la concentration initiale du Cr (VI), de la température, du temps de contact, de la dose de l’adsorbant et leurs effets sur la capacité d’adsorption sont vérifiés expérimentalement. L’adsorption du Cr (VI) sur la lignine est maximale en milieu acide de pH = 2. Elle est optimale à une concentration initiale Cr (VI) de 180 mg•L-1, une dose de lignine de 4 g•L-1 et à un temps de contact maximal de 80 min. Les résultats de l’étude sont exploités à l’aide des équations de Langmuir, de Lagergren et d’Arrhenius afin de déterminer les divers paramètres d’équilibre tels que la capacité maximale d’adsorption, l’énergie d’adsorption, d’interaction et d’activation et les constantes d’équilibre adsorbat-adsorbant. L’application du modèle de Langmuir pour les données expérimentales d’isotherme d’adsorption a permis d’obtenir une capacité maximale d’adsorption de 75,8 mg•g-1 à 40 °C. Abstract. Dyes are commonly found in the effluents of many industries. The effectiveness of adsorption for the removal of dye from wastewaters has been made it an ideal alternative to other expensive treatment methods. Continuous column adsorption is more affective than batch adsorption. A comparative column adsorption study was performed using three different low cost adsorbents for the removal of methylene blue from synthetic wastewater. Sand was collected from Cox's Bazar, and sugarcane bagasse and used black tea leaves were locally prepared in laboratory. Three columns were designed for different adsorbents maintaining all conditions were to be approximately similar. UV-vis spectroscopic method was used for analysis of methylene blue in solution. Column adsorption experiments were performed to investigate the comparison of breakthrough curves and exhaust capacity of three different adsorbents. Column study shows that the adsorption capacity of used black tea leaves is highest. The adsorption capacity of bagasse is lower than tea leaves but higher than sand.

Chromium (VI) removal and its reduction to chromium (III) from aqueous solution by untreated and heat-treated Quercus cerris and heat-treated Quercus suber black agglomerate cork granules was investigated. Initial screening studies revealed that among the sorbents tested, untreated Q. cerris and Q. suber black agglomerate are the most efficient in the removal of Cr(VI) ions and were selected for adsorption essays. Heat treatment adversely affected chromium adsorption and chromium (VI) reduction in Q. cerris cork. The highest metal uptake was found at pH 3.0 for Q. cerris and pH 2.0 for black agglomerate. The experimental data fitted the Langmuir model and the calculated q max was 22.98 mg/g in black agglomerate and 21.69 mg/g in untreated Q. cerris cork. The FTIR results indicated that while in black agglomerate, lignin is the sole component responsible for Cr(VI) sorption, and in untreated Q. cerris cork, suberin and polysaccharides also play a significant role on the sorption. The SEM-EDX results imply that chromium has a homogenous distribution within both cork granules. Also, phloemic residues in Q. cerris granules showed higher chromium concentration. The results obtained in this study show that untreated Q. cerris and black agglomerate cork granules can be an effective and economical alternative to more costly materials for the treatment of liquid wastes containing chromium.
