“…The complex nature of WEDM operation results in unsteadiness in cutting processes, and the output of the machined surface depends on many input factors such as discharge energy, discharge gap, spark on time, and spark off time, etc., these input parameters vary machine to machine but all the parameters particularly the result of input energy on the machined surface could affect the microstructure of materials, as the spark energy between the electrode and workpiece surface produces extreme heat and temperature up to 8000 to 13000 degrees Celsius, which may affect workpiece surface, the MRR largely depends on spark energy which is a function of pulse on time during machining, the other parameters also have an influence on MRR such as discharge gap, input current, and open voltage, etc. [4]. Manjaiah et al [1] examined WEDM performance measures of AISI D2 steel and it was discovered that the input voltage and pulse on time are the most influencing parameters affecting the surface roughness and MRR during WEDM.…”
