In the present study, the whole fungal mycelia of Aspergillus candidus, showed the highest capacity for the removal of heavy metals: Pb +2 , Cu +2 , Fe +3 , Mn +2 , Cr +6 and Sr +2 from wastewater effluent of tanning leather industry, compared with the fungal pellets. Maximum biosorption capacity of metals was obtained after using 6 days old biomass and when the process was carried out at 28°C. Heavy metals sorption was observed at a wide pH range of the wastewater and particularly increased at slight acidic condition (pH 6) for sorption of Pb +2 and Cu +2 . However, sorption of Fe +3 , Mn +2 , Cr +6 and Sr +2 was stimulated after adjusting the pH of the waste water at the alkaline conditions (pH 8 for Fe 3+ and Mn 2+ , and 10 for Cr 6+ and Sr 2+ ), specially for the last two metals. The results confirm that, the dead biomass of A. candidus offered a great potential as abiosorbent over the living one.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện với mục tiêu xác định các điều kiện ảnh hưởng đến quá trình lên men rượu vang cà na (Canarium album) sử dụng dòng nấm men Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Kết quả cho thấy sản phẩm rượu vang thu được có độ cồn cao (9,04% v/v) với mật số nấm men 107 tế bào/mL, dịch lên men được bổ sung đường saccharose đạt 25°Brix, pH 4,0 và lên men trong thời gian 12 ngày. Dịch quả và rượu vang cà na có sự hiện diện của các nhóm hợp chất sinh học như phenol, tannin, flavonoid, alkaloid, coumarin, quinone, saponin, terpenoid và steroid. Hàm lượng polyphenol tổng của dịch quả cà na cao hơn rượu vang cà na, cụ thể là 60,098 mg GAE/mL và 29,001 mg GAE/mL. Sau quá trình lên men, khả năng khử gốc tự do DPPH của rượu vang cà na đạt giá trị IC50 là 1,17 μL/mL, tăng so với dịch cà na ban đầu với giá trị IC50 là 4,97 μL/mL. Khả năng khử gốc peroxide H2O2 của rượu vang cà na có sự thay đổi không đáng kể sau quá trình lên men. Giá trị IC50 của rượu vang và dịch cà na lần lượt là 6,24 μL/mL và 4,47 μL/mL. Kết quả cho thấy dịch quả ban đầu và rượu vang cà na đều có khả năng kháng oxy hóa tốt.

To utilize the process water during ethanol fermentation from food waste saccharification broth, the water obtained after three types of technology—methane fermentation, electrodialysis, and microbial fuel cell—were utilized in recycle fermentation in food waste ethanol fermentation. The food waste methane water (FWS), electrodialysis water (FEW), and microbial fuel cell water (FWM), were compared with tap water in terms of ethanol fermentation, volatile fatty acid production, and other parameters. The results indicated that fermentation time was reduced by 50% using both FEW and FWM recycling. Among the different recycled water, FEW recycling in ethanol fermentation motivated yeast growth, yielding the highest ethanol value of 47 g/L. The pH changes in the fermentation systems during 60 h using the different recycled waters were within the optimal range of ethanol fermentation (pH 4.0 to 5.0). Moreover, the highest content of acids found in the fermentation systems were 15 g/L and 11 g/L for lactic and formic acid, respectively, which was less than the inhibition values reported. There was no significant inhibition of ethanol fermentation system due to the presence of VFAs. This study will aid the development of an integrated treatment plant for food waste and biofuel production.
