Optimal Protection from Impact, Shock, and Vibration

Abstract: Items with a reviewer byline (coded R) are by AMR's corps of dedicated outside volunteer reviewers. AMR will attempt to get critical reviews of all relevant textbooks, reference works, and monographs. Items without a reviewer byline (coded N) are prepared by AMR in-house staff and are largely based on material such as a book's table of contents and editor's preface or foreword. In the interest of timeliness, most conference proceedings and multi-author contributed volumes will receive descriptive notes in this… Show more

“…To use the linear programming method, we convert the problem of Eq. (17) to its dual problem [1] Find U Minimize max k∈ [1,N ] {x k } Subject to J 2 H max (18) where H max is the prescribed limit on the HIC. The problems of Eqs (17) and (18) are equivalent.…”

“…The problem of Eqs (38) and (39) is a mathematical programming problem. The problem of Eqs (36) and (37) is a minmax problem, which can be converted to a mathematical programming problem [1]. Then, the problems of Case 1 and Case 2 can be solved using nonlinear optimization methods.…”

“…To design a civil defense structure, the reduction of stress-waves needs to be examined. In addition, new stress-wave migrating and weakening systems are expected [7]. In this paper, investigations will be focused on the reduction of stress-waves through an intelligent defense layer embedded with artificial cavities.…”

“…In Ref. (7), the optimal reference contact force between the knees and the instrument panel has been obtained by limiting performance analysis (8) . The active knee bolster is effective for reducing the maximum femur load, which was verified by carrying out simulations and experiments.…”
