Optical and Structural Properties of ZnO Thin Films Fabricated by SILAR Method

Abstract: ABSTRACT:A novel and simple chemical route was used for the deposition of ZnO thin film from aqueous solution of zinc-ammonia complex, integrating the merits of successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) and chemical bath deposition methods. ZnO thin films on glass substrates were deposited with the precursor of zincammonia complex. Characterization techniques of XRD, SEM, EDAX and DRS are used to characterize ZnO thin films. X-ray diffraction study show that the film prepared in this work exhibits… Show more

“…Thickness was determined using the mass-loss formula [12,13]. Mass added to the slide, weighed before the ZnO layer was applied and then weighed afterward the layer had been added.…”

“…They were also not as tough as the previous samples. This was attributed to lack of annealing [4,12,14]. It was only the first three samples that were though and without brittle.…”

“…Using this method the optical band gap value obtained for ZnO nanoparticles was 3.91, 4.17 and 4.41 eV for 5%, 10% and 15% O 2 in plasma which are greater than that of bulk. The properties of particles with nano meter sized exhibit quite different from bulk materials because of some emergence phenomenon like quantum size confinement, wave like transport and predominance of interfacial [48].…”
