Abstract:A 36-year-old woman with a 3-month history of progressive visual loss had papilledema, dilatation of the optic nerve sheaths and normal cerebrospinal fluid pressures. She was diagnosed as dural ectasia of the optic nerve sheaths and surgical decompression was performed. In this case report, severe visual loss is described as a serious complication of this rare disease and the importance of early surgical intervention is emphasized.

ÖzetNörofibromatozis tip 1 (NF-1), otozomal dominant geçişli mezodermal displaziye neden olan konjenital nöroektodermal bir hastalıktır. NF-1 deri, sinir sistemi, yumuşak doku ve osseöz anomaliler ile karakterizedir. Dural ektazi sıklıkla idiyopatik olmakla birlikte NF-1, Marfan sendromu, Ehler-Danlos sendromu, ankilozan spondilit, akondroplazi ve erişkin tipi polikistik böbrek hastalığı gibi bağ doku hastalıklarında görülebilmektedir. Bu yazıda, bel ağrısı ve skolyoz nedeniyle başvuran ve yapılan tetkikleri sonucunda dural ektazi ve dev lateral meningosellerin eşlik ettiği NF-1 tanısı konulan olgunun görüntüleme bulguları sunulmuştur. Dural ectasia is often idiopathic; it can be seen with connective tissue diseases such as NF-1, Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, ankylosing spondylitis, achondroplasia and adult-type polycystic kidney disease.
