Operating Temperature Effect on the Thin Film Solar Cell Efficiency

Abstract: The made research results of the dependence of the film photovoltaic converter efficiency on their operating temperature and their comparison are considered in the paper. The physical mechanisms of temperature influence analysis on output, diode and electronic parameters of photovoltaic converters were conducted. The output parameters determination of the flexible photovoltaic converters was carried out by measurement of light current-voltage characteristics by using illuminator based on powerful semiconductor… Show more

“…have values of -6.6710 -3 , -0.5310 -3 , -3.3610 -3 and -7.8410 -3 K -1 . The obtained data on the values of the temperature coefficients are in good agreement with the experimental data for Si-based solar cells [15,16]. Note that the temperature dependences for the values of UOC, FF and  are typical for solar cells of various types.…”

“…Along with this, a promising direction of research is the study of temperature dependences of the parameters of solar cells [16][17][18]. Thus, in [15], the physics of the processes that determine the temperature sensitiv-ity of photovoltaic converters is discussed and the method of determining the temperature coefficients of the electrical parameters of nanowire solar cells (the open-circuit voltage UOC, short-circuit current density JSC, fill-factor FF, efficiency ) is presented.…”

“…Considerable attention is paid to the problem of determining the exact characteristics of p-n junctions and semiconductor structures based on them. The studies mainly concern combinations of semiconductor materials used to create semiconductor structures and the influence of various external conditions on their characteristics, including breakdown parameters during inverse switching [2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. The real value of the breakdown voltage of bipolar transistors, both in direct and inverse switching, is determined by the smaller of the values of the avalanche breakdown voltage and the puncture voltage of the base when the space charge region (SCR) of the collector p-n junction, passing through the base, reaches the emitter region.…”
