Plant leaf temperature and its environmental parameters provide valuable information on plant growth. This paper presents the development of a plant monitoring system using an IoT-based SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). The developed SCADA system monitors the leaf temperature and the air parameters of temperature and humidity, as well as the soil parameters of temperature, moisture, pH, electrical conductivity, nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. A novel method is proposed for measuring the leaf temperature using a low-cost 8 × 8 array thermal camera. The sensor systems in the field are developed to wirelessly communicate with the Hawell IoT Cloud HMI via a Modbus TCP protocol. To visualize the thermal image on the HMI dashboard, a novel approach is proposed wherein the data are transferred using the Modbus TCP protocol. The HMI is connected to a cloud server and can be accessed by the users using the web browser or mobile application on a smartphone. The experimental results show that the proposed hardware, software, and communication protocol are reliable for real-time and continuous plant monitoring. Further, the evaluation of sensor data shows that the data from the thermal camera and air parameters sensor can be independently interpreted. However, the data from the soil sensor should be interpreted in consideration of the other parameters.

Recent technological advances encompassed by the smart factory concept have fundamentally changed industrial control systems in the way they are structured and how they operate. Majority of these changes affect Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, shifting them to a higher level of interoperability, heterogeneous networks, big data and toward internet technologies and services in general. However, this transformation does not affect all SCADA systems equally. The immediate industrial environment and controlled processes have a significant impact as well. This paper presents a holistic approach to SCADA systems implemented in continuous flow production control within the steel industry production environment. We outline the multi-layer architecture of the SCADA control framework and the aspects of interoperability and interconnection within the architecture reference models, together with the research challenges and opportunities arising from the recent rapid increasement of the industrial control systems complexity and digital transformation under the Industry 4.0 paradigm, resulting in disrupting levels of the traditional automation pyramid based on Purdue model toward a higher level of integration and interoperability enabling cross-level data exchange empowered by the Industrial Internet of Things. Furthermore, the paper addresses the problem of proprietary SCADA systems and elaborates the causal correlation between SCADA quality requirements and adoption of new technology in relation to the specific industrial environment of the steel manufacturing process.

The ability to send data online when computers are networked allows immediate sharing of data and avoids duplication of work, thus making physical education a standardised management that can positively improve the efficiency of administration. The aim of this paper is to investigate the design and implementation of an athletics teaching management system based on a B/S architecture. Firstly, it introduces the development history of the B/S architecture-based athletics teaching system, summarises the relevant research on the management information system for athletics teaching, and explains the development value and development significance of the system. Secondly, the reasons for the difficulties in teaching track and field special classes are analysed, the general design principles of the track and field teaching management system are introduced, and the detailed structure of the system data flow analysis and database design are described. Finally, the system design and implementation work is shown to implement the key algorithms for document management and key codes for grade management of the system. The results show that the system can help physical education teachers to manage athletics teaching more effectively.
