Opal: Multimodal Image Generation for News Illustration

Abstract

Figure 1: An example screenshot of our system Opal, which helps users create news illustrations from text using a text-toimage generative AI approach. The system here has generated a gallery of images based off an article on 'climate change'. The participant is guided through the generation process with a structured pipeline of suggestions based off of suggested keywords and tones from GPT3.
