Online Laboratory Sessions in System Design with DSPs using the R-DSP Lab

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents the online conduction of the System Design with DSPs laboratory sessions through the R-DSP Lab (Remote Digital Signal Processor Laboratory). This interactive RL (Remote Laboratory) supports the verification of DSP applications which are written offline by the students in C and/or assembly programming language, through an internet accessible and user friendly control environment. The latest and most important feature of the R-DSP Lab which is also proposed in this paper, is the remo… Show more

“…Computer simulations of different processes [11,14,17] and remote access to real laboratory equipment via modern communication technologies, including cloud technologies [20] have been recently studied by many authors. A great number of studies have focused on the main problems of simulating tasks in radiophysics [2,6,11,12,[16][17][18][19]. Of particular interest are those [18,19] aimed at the development of simulation software in radiophysics with the virtual model interface of measurement instruments being almost identical to those of real prototypes.…”

“…There is a great variety of works in radiophysics [3,7,[8][9][10][11][12]. However, of a particular interest are lab works with the interface of virtual laboratory units being almost the same to that of their real prototypes [4,12], among which there are several facilities simulating laboratory equipment in terms of the concept and principles of conducting measurements [4].…”

“…Considering the above, the development and implementation of remote laboratory works equally aimed at studying the observed physical processes, as well as mastering the techniques of working with modern measuring equipment is in high demand today. Taking into account the educational process, laboratory works with remote access to real laboratory equipment [7,11,[14][15] and virtual works performed remotely [12] are of practical interest. Such work can be implemented as a web application or a client-server model using a thin client on the client/user side.…”

“…Point of view of teaching, the aim is to reproduce and ensure the learning offered in a face-to-face laboratory to a remote user. Several examples of remote laboratories have been developed in this background [4] [5]. Some of remote laboratories developed for a single application also remain relevant [6], it allows to provide specific and unique solutions such as remote control of equipment's designed to be handled in face-to-face labs [7].…”

Some of remote laboratories developed for a single application also remain relevant [6], it allows to provide specific and unique solutions such as remote control of equipment's designed to be handled in face-to-face labs [7]. An old version of the remote laboratory presented in this paper is based on the use of Ajax with the use of a computer as a web and databases server and an Arduino as Ethernet interface to the relay cards (FHI)[8.…”
