One-step hydrothermal synthesis of Sb2WO6 nanoparticle towards excellent LED light driven photocatalytic dye degradation

Abstract: Pristine Antimony tungstate nanoparticles prepared via a simple hydrothermal process showcase interesting photocatalytic efficiency, degrading Methylene Blue (MB) completely in 180 min under visible light. In this study, the impact on crystalline quality and related optical properties as well as photocatalytic efficiency of antimony tungstate due to temperature variation during hydrothermal synthesis are explored. While X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows the polycrystalline nature of all synthesized samples, howeve… Show more

“…into water bodies without an effective careful water treatment [7]. As a consequence, several methods are used for water treatment including adsorption [8], ozonation [9], membrane filtration [10], bioadsorption [11], photocatalytic degradation [12][13][14], coagulation [15], etc. However, photocatalysis is the most effective from the perspective of permanently destroying the dye by converting the toxic organic molecules into the corresponding innocuous inorganic components via an advanced oxidation process [12,[16][17][18].…”

“…The diffraction peaks of Sb 2 WO 6 were observed to match with its JCPDS card no. 47.1680, corresponding to the orthorhombic phase 34 with 2 θ values at 20.400°, 27.411°, 29.419°, 33.034°, 36.760°, 47.7°, 50.1°, 53.5°, and 55.7° for the designated diffraction ( hkl ) planes. The diffraction peaks observed for pure Sb 2 WO 6 were broad, indicating an attenuated particle size.…”

“…All calculations were performed using DFT implemented in the Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package (VASP). [ 55 , 56 ] The generalized gradient approximation method with the revised Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof (RPBE) functionals [ 57 , 58 ] and projector augmented wave (PAW) [ 59 ] method were employed. The energy cutoff and force convergence criteria were set to 400 eV and 0.05 eV Å −1 , respectively.…”
