One Size Does Not Fit All: An Overview of Personalized Treatment in Cancer

Abstract: The last few decades have witnessed 'one size fits all' kind of conventional treatment strategy i.e. a similar line of treatment or usage of the same drug to treat a particular disease. This approach is not associated with specific personal characteristics but with individual genetic constitutions. Precision oncology holds great opportunities to improve prediction, treatment and follow-up care for the benefit of cancer patients. In this study, many pieces of literature and various clinical data have been surve… Show more

“…Hence the drug delivery of these compounds at the site of action would not be an issue for taking these molecules to the next step towards breast cancer therapeutics. The scope for precision treatment against cancer is also increasing with everyday research [47] as this study focuses on screening natural inhibitors for Lyn protein to be precise. A Lyn targeted therapy can be discovered doing the follow up in vitro research focusing the same and using this study as the base.…”

“…Cancer, with its inherent complexity and heterogeneity, has prompted a paradigm shift in treatment strategies. The conventional one-size-fits-all approach has given way to the era of personalized medicine, where treatments are tailored to the individual characteristics of each patient and their specific cancer (Kulavi et al, 2021). This review explores the transformative progress in personalized medicine approaches within cancer research in the United States, focusing on the shift from generic treatments to precision therapies that leverage liquid biopsies and advanced imaging techniques for enhanced monitoring and targeted interventions.…”

“…In the last decades, the old “one-size-fits-all” approach in cancer treatment has been replaced by a personalized model in which therapeutic strategy is based on biological features of the patient’s disease ( Gambardella et al, 2020 ; Kulavi et al, 2021 ). This approach, known as personalized medicine, aims to identify patients who will respond to specific therapies by reducing the risk of adverse effects as well as improving the sustainability of healthcare systems ( Biankin et al, 2015 ; Jameson and Longo, 2015 ; Hyman et al, 2017 ; Yates et al, 2018 ).…”
