“…Our group and other researchers have devoted considerable efforts to produce a series of biomimetic GPx using small molecules, 20,21 polymers, 22,23 proteins, 24,25 and nanomaterials, 26,27 and to expose the relationship between the structure and the function of biomimetic GPx. The previous results indicated that the three important catalytic factors for maintaining the high catalytic activity of GPx are the selenium element as the catalytic center on GPx, the hydrophobic microenvironment composed of hydrophobic amino acid residues such as 150 Phe, 148 Trp, and 34 Leu, and the recognition site for binding substrates via hydrogen bonds between substrates and arginine-based 40 Arg, 130 Arg, and 167 Arg.…”

“…[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22] And also several organoselenium compounds mimicking glutathione peroxidase have been synthesized. [23][24][25][26][27][28][29] For last two decades, Ni-oxo and Ni-superoxo complexes have been isolated during the reactions between macrocyclic Ni complexes and dioxygen (O 2 ), showing the dioxygen activation ability of the Ni complexes. And Ni-superoxo and Ni-peroxo complexes have been synthesized by using H 2 O 2 and their reactivities and structural properties have been characterized.…”
