Abstract: Two species of the genus Neoperla Needham, 1905 from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China are treated, the description of one new species, N. shiwandashana sp. nov., and the first Chinese record of N. yentu Cao & Bae, 2007. Illustrations and color images are provided for each species and the new species is compared with related congeners.

“…An alarmingly low heterozygosity rate of 0.02% suggests a genetic bottleneck, likely due to the species' narrow habitat range on Mt. Shiwandashan, limited population size, and specialized niche within humid mossy forests [40][41][42]. Compared with other endangered species, such a low heterozygosity rate is lower than that of the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) and comparable to that of the Orca (Orcinus orca) [31].…”

“…Employing an integrated sequencing approach, we achieved a 970. 40 Mb assembly with 96.32% coverage across seven pseudo-chromosomes and impressive continuity (N50 > 220 Mb). Genome annotation achieves identification with 99.2% BUSCO completeness, supporting quality.…”

“…The Region also borders Vietnam to the southwest. To date, 24 species of Neoperla known from Guangxi had been studied, mainly by Wu (1948), Yang and Yang (1990), Du (1998), Du and Sivec (2004), Li et al (2013Li et al ( , 2020, Wang et al (2013aWang et al ( , 2013b, Yang et al (2017), and Mo et al (2019, 2020a. The type locality of one of these species, Neoperla quadrispina Li, Mo & Wang, 2020, was misspelled in the original description and it should be revised to Pingtianshan National Forest Park.…”
