On the Role of Renewable Energy Policies and Electric Vehicle Deployment Incentives for a Greener Sector Coupling

Abstract: Various incentives are introduced for the expansion of electric vehicle fleets and electricity generation from renewable energy resources. Although many researchers studied the effect of these policies on the related sector, there is no study investigating the indirect effect of renewable energy incentives on the deployment of electric vehicles or the indirect effect of electric vehicle adoption policies on the long-term integration of renewable energy resources. The main contribution of this paper is to analy… Show more

“…During this time, different countries saw an opportunity to adopt EV to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel usage [6]. Indeed, incentives for using these type of resources, providing flexibility to deal with the volatile behavior of distributed generation, will be a crucial factor to increase the system sustainability [7]. In this way, as a result, according to International Energy Agency, these past few years, the global stock of EVs has been increasing significantly, wherein in 2020, there was a 43% increase compared to 2019 [8].…”

“…Job losses in these sectors are a legitimate concern for many communities that depend on these industries. Advocates of electric transportation policy counter that transitioning to a cleaner transportation sector could lead to the creation of new jobs in manufacturing, research, development, and infrastructure construction related to EVs and renewable energy (Bohn & Rogge, 2022); (Esmaeili, Anvari-Moghaddam, Muyeen, & Perić, 2022).…”
