On the influence of model setting on stochastic frontier analysis

Abstract: This article deals with the comparison of technical efficiency results through various stochastic frontier analysis models. Effects of model type, possible frontier shift, distribution of inefficiency term, different output variable, and estimator selection were explored. For this purpose, aggregated annual data within the EU construction sector from 2000 to 2015 were used for the efficiency estimation. The resulting efficiency values were compared by correlation coefficients. Among others, it has been shown t… Show more

“…In this respect, the differences between the TD models and the "true" models became apparent. Here it is possible to refer to the results of Staňková and Hampel (2020), where it was demonstrated on the basis of correlation coefficients that the TD models estimated by them usually had a weak correlation with the results of "true" models.…”

“…Efficiency is an important issue in the performance management of public higher education. The more efficient the performance, the better the ability to produce an output with fewer inputs (Staňková & Hampel, 2021). The analysis of efficiency also describes past economic performance and future policy directions (Lewis & Dundar, 1999;Sav, 2016).…”

“…A multiple regression model is used to determine the possible statistical significance of the potential factors influencing sales, similar to [12] and [13]. The t-test is used to verify the statistical significance of the individual model parameters, and the F-test to verify the significance of the model itself like in [14]. When verifying the model, attention is paid to the most common problems, see [15].…”
