“…In the past, Dolerini was not included in Selandriinae but assigned to its own subfamily "Doleriinae" on the basis of several morphological characters, such as the absence of a prepectus and the presence of an anal cell with a crossvein (Ross 1937;Benson 1938). The morphological characters of "Doleriinae", however, are shared by Adelestini and Heptamelini (Benson 1938;Takeuchi 1941;Smith 1969), so we consider the close relationship of Adelestini and Dolerini found in this study to be reliable. Naito (1975) showed closely relationship between one genus of the Strongylogastrini (Pseudohemitaxonus) and Adelestini (Adelesta and Nipponorhynchus), comparing with morphologies among Adelesta, Nipponorhynchus and three genera of Figure 1 Molecular phylogeny of Selandriinae and node-dating analysis results.…”

“…Selandriinae comprises approximately 70 genera, and eight to nine tribes have been defined, but not all of the genera have been assigned to a tribe (Benson 1938;1952;Takeuchi 1941;Ross 1951;Smith 1969;Naito 1982;Noblecourt 2004). “…Benson (1938) placed the genus in the subfamily Allantinae because of similar wing venation and other structural characters (Benson 1938) but created a new tribe, Cladiuchini, for the genus. Taeger et al (2010) continued with placement in the Allantinae but did not recognize tribes.…”

“…It has been placed by most recent specialists in the subfamily Allantinae. Benson (1938) erected the tribe Xenapateini for Xenapates and some similar Oriental taxa, based solely on characters of wing venation that have since proved to be of limited value in the taxonomy of Blennocampinae and Allantinae (Koch and Liston 2012). Koch (1996) redefined the Xenapateini using characters of the adult mouthparts.…”
