Real-time deep video analytic at the edge is an enabling technology for emerging applications, such as vulnerable road user detection for autonomous driving, which requires highly accurate results of model inference within a low latency. In this paper, we investigate the accuracy-latency trade-off in the design and implementation of real-time deep video analytic at the edge. Without loss of generality, we select the widely used YOLObased object detection and WebRTC-based video streaming for case study. Here, the latency consists of both networking latency caused by video streaming and the processing latency for video encoding/decoding and model inference. We conduct extensive measurements to figure out how the dynamically changing settings of video streaming affect the achieved latency, the quality of video, and further the accuracy of model inference. Based on the findings, we propose a mechanism for adapting video streaming settings (i.e. bitrate, resolution) online to optimize the accuracy of video analytic within latency constraints. The mechanism has proved, through a simulated setup, to be efficient in searching the optimal settings.

Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) is designed to permit the co-occurrence of audio, video, and data communications. However, an effective signalling mechanism that setup, establish and end communication between peers has not been specified in WebRTC. This paper designs and implements an effective WebRTC signalling mechanism for data communication compared with the common existing applications and current reviews. Moreover, it focuses on the limitations of multi-browsers communication and data. As long as no elaboration specifies how the signalling mechanism can be used in WebRTC because it does not understand the concept of sessions but rather that of streams, which create and consumes media flows. In addition, this research will elaborate on the related work and analyse the communication quality of data communications, such as data, audio, and video. Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) technology permits real-time media and data exchange between browsers. A connection is proven via a detection procedure named signalling. However, signalling has no exact definition in WebRTC. This paper aims to design and implement WebRTC chat, video communication, and recording between peers (browser-to-browser) in a real application using Chrome and Firefox based on peer-to-peer topology. Thus, a signalling channel between two peers for chat and video conferencing using the following: Socket.io mechanism, Node.JS platform, and Express.JS has been produced and performed. Including, Vanilla JS, Axios (HTTP JSON) and JavaScript as the main programing language utilized. The results of this work have ensured that a signalling channel has been built and implemented.
