In this work, the time series of growth rates regarding confirmed cases and deaths of COVID-19 for several sampled countries are investigated via an introduction of an orthonormal basis. This basis, which is served as the feature benchmark, reveals the hidden features of COVID-19 via the magnitude of Fourier coefficients. These coefficients are ranked in the form of ranking vectors for all the sampled countries. Based on these and Manhattan metric, we then perform spectral clustering to categorise the countries. Unlike the classical cosine similarity analysis which, relatively speaking, is a composite index and hard to identify the features of the categorised countries, spectral analysis delves into the internal structures or dynamical trend of the time series. This research shows there is no single feature that dominates the trend of the growth rates. It also reveals that results from the spectral analysis are different from the ones of cosine similarity. In the end, some approximated values of the confirmed cases and deaths are also calculated by the spectral analysis.

Effective vaccines and monoclonal antibodies have been developed against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2). However, the appearance of virus variants with higher transmissibility and pathogenicity is a major concern because of their potential to escape vaccines and clinically approved SARS‐CoV‐2‐ antibodies. Here, we use flow cytometry‐based binding and pseudotyped SARS‐CoV‐2 neutralization assays to determine the efficacy of boost immunization and therapeutic antibodies to neutralize the dominant Omicron variant. We provide compelling evidence that the third vaccination with BNT162b2 increases the amount of neutralizing serum antibodies against Delta and Omicron variants, albeit to a lower degree when compared to the parental Wuhan strain. Therefore, a third vaccination is warranted to increase titers of protective serum antibodies, especially in the case of the Omicron variant. We also found that most clinically approved and otherwise potent therapeutic antibodies against the Delta variant failed to recognize and neutralize the Omicron variant. In contrast, some antibodies under preclinical development potentially neutralized the Omicron variant. Our studies also support using a flow cytometry‐based antibody binding assay to rapidly monitor therapeutic candidates and serum titers against emerging SARS‐CoV‐2 variants.

The pandemic being a health issue at its core is a multifaceted crisis encompassing both economic and epidemic factors in a twisted tale of challenges. In counteraction, we have proposed a combined epidemic–economic model that analyses system dynamics arising in the presence of an infectious disease (SARS-2-COVID-19 in our case). Dynamical analysis of the system has been performed in context to the equilibria along with local and global stability analysis of the system simultaneously visualizing the effect on capital stabilization. The global stability analysis has been performed using graph-theoretic method. Curve-Fit has been performed for the system using optimization algorithm. The relation between all the parameters and variables involved in the model has been explored by calculating sensitivity indices which gives us the proportion that a relative change in a parameter brings to the relative change in a variable. Our findings reveal that (1) Vaccination instigates economic growth (with evidence of data obtained for 24 countries). (2) Complete vaccination leads to a considerable reduction in all infections (reduction up to 90%, as per current CDC study). (3) Excessive exposure to media can facilitate spike in infections. (4) Parameter sensitivity analysis can be of immense help in policy formation.
