Purpose: To raise authentically creative individuals, it is compulsory to employ contemporary reading methods. Although critical reading, which is the main medium for accessing the right knowledge, is defined as a sub-category for creative reading in which high cognitive processes are involved, the connection between these has not been clearly put forward. This study aimed at examining the effect of critical reading skills of 5th grade learners on their evaluation skills of creative reading process, and the role of gender in this effect through structural equation modelling.

Yaratıcı okuma yöntemi süreçsel değerlendirmeye dayanan, yaratıcılık ve satır arası okuma kabiliyetini temel alan; okumaya dayalı herhangi bir materyalde farklı ya da yeni olanı aramayı, metnin işlevsel ve eleştirel olarak da okunmasını kapsayan bir yöntemdir. Okullarda yaratıcı okuma yöntemi kullanımının yaygınlaşması için, öğretmen adaylarının bu yöntemle tanıştırılması ve bu yöntemi temel alan uygulamalar yapması büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcı okuma becerilerini ölçebilecek nitelikte bir ölçme aracı geliştirmektir. Araştırmanın Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizi (AFA) çalışma grubunu 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılı bahar yarıyılında Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi (MSKÜ) Eğitim Fakültesi’nde öğrenim görmekte olan 352 öğretmen adayı; Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) çalışma grubunu aynı yarıyılda MSKÜ ve Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi (YTÜ) eğitim fakültelerinde öğrenim görmekte olan 446 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Süreçte ölçeğin yapı geçerliğinin belirlenmesi amacıyla önce (AFA) yapılmış, akabinde geçerli bir yapı olup olmadığının belirlenmesi amacıyla da DFA gerçekleştirilmiştir. AFA sonucunda Metni Yeniden Yapılandırma, Metinde Yer Alan Değerlere Odaklanma, Metindeki Karakterlerle Bağ Kurma, Metnin Oluşturuluş Amaçlarını Tespit Etme, Metni Yorumlama ve Metinle İlgili Tahmin Yürütme olarak adlandırılan 6 faktörlük ve 33 maddelik bir yapıya ulaşılmıştır. Ölçeğin AFA ile belirlenen altı faktörlü yapısı DFA ile doğrulanmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirliğini belirlemek için Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlık katsayılarından ve madde-toplam korelasyonundan yararlanılmıştır. Yapılan geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmalarının sonucunda YOBÖ’nün öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcı okuma becerilerini ölçebilecek nitelikte bir ölçme aracı olduğu belirlenmiştir.
