Odontogenic and nonodontogenic cysts in Istanbul: Analysis of 5088 cases

Abstract

The knowledge of the biological behavior and clinicopathologic features of jaw cysts constitute key aspects to provide early diagnosis and adequate surgery.

The prevalence of orofacial cysts and odontogenic cysts in the study done by Grossman et al 17 was 15.2% and 14.75% and by Tekkesin et al 53 was 12.02% and 11.8% respectively. However in the study by Daley et al aneurysmal bone cyst and traumatic bone cysts were not included, as they are considered as pseudocysts that fail to satisfy the definition of a cyst.…”
