Objective. Get to know the nursing undergraduates perception, from a public university in southern Brazil, on the inclusion of the theme violence against women in the curriculum and about that thematic approach during graduation. Methodology. Descriptive exploratory qualitative research, made with 18 students of Nursing Graduation in Federal de Santa Maria University. Semi-structured interview was made and its data was submitted to thematic analysis. Results. From the undergraduates understanding, the theme integrates the curricular content in a punctual way and a reduced workload. There were found difficulties in the violence's identification and the actions to be developed. The participants suggest that the theme should be worked since the graduation's beginning, permeating the learning in collective health. Conclusion. The study shows the need to include violence as a transversal theme in curriculums in graduation courses of Nursing and Health.Key words: women's health; violence against women; credentialing; nursing; education nursing Violencia contra las mujeres: percepción de los estudiantes de enfermería acerca del enfoque en la formación Objetivo. Conocer la percepción de los estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad pública en el sur de Brasil, sobre la inclusión en el currículum del tema de la violencia contra la mujer y con respecto al abordaje de la temática durante la formación. Metodología. Investigación cualitativa exploratoria descriptiva realizada con 18 alumnos de Enfermería. Para la toma de información se utilizó la técnica de entrevista semiestructurada y los datos se sometieron al análisis temático de contenido. Resultados. Para los alumnos la temática integra el contenido curricular de manera puntual, aunque con carga horaria reducida. Se presentaron dificultades en la identificación de la violencia y en las acciones que serán desarrolladas. Los participantes sugieren que la temática debería ser trabajada desde el inicio del programa, permeando Invest Educ Enferm. 2015;33(2) • 261 el aprendizaje en Salud Colectiva. Conclusión. Violence against children in Latin America and Caribbean countries: a comprehensive review of national health sector efforts in prevention and response

BackgroundViolence against children (VAC) remains a global problem. The health sector has an opportunity and responsibility to be part of the multi-sector collaboration to prevent and respond to VAC. This review aimed to assess the health sector’s response to VAC among Latin American & Caribbean (LAC) countries, particularly as it relates to physical violence, sexual violence, and neglect.MethodNational protocols for the identification and provision of health care to child survivors of violence, abuse and neglect were solicited in partnership with UNICEF and PAHO/WHO country offices within the LAC region. A parallel systematic review was undertaken in January 2015 to review studies published in the last 10 years that describe the regional health sector response to VAC.ResultsWe obtained health sectors guidelines/protocols related to VAC from 22 of 43 (51 %) countries and reviewed 97 published articles/reports that met the review inclusion criteria. Country protocols were presented in Spanish (n = 12), Portuguese (n = 1), and English (n = 9). Thematic areas of country protocols included: 1) identifying signs and symptoms of VAC, 2) providing patient-centered care to the victim, and 3) immediate treatment of injuries related to VAC. The systematic review revealed that health professionals are often unaware of national protocols and lack training, resources, and support to respond to cases of VAC. Further, there is limited coordination between health and social protection services.ConclusionsVAC remains an international, public health priority. Health professionals are well-positioned to identify, treat and refer cases of VAC to appropriate institutions and community-based partners. This study aims to analyze the educational practices in the professional training of university students regarding violence against women.This descriptive, exploratory study utilized a qualitative approach, addressing eight university students from a public institution. The study used a semi-structured interview, and the statements were recorded and transcribed in full. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis. It was observed that most students said they had not studied violence in undergraduate programs.By enabling the development of skills to deal with abused women, the educational practices of the extension project are significant to the learning process, contributing to academic and professional development, despite the difficulties encountered during these activities. Therefore, it is concluded that academics and professionals should be trained in a multidisciplinary way to work within the community in the care of victims of violence. Keywords: Women's health. Resumo Práticas educativas sobre violência contra a mulher na formação de universitáriosObjetivou-se analisar as práticas educativas sobre violência contra a mulher na formação profissional de estudantes universitários. Trata-se de estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa, que incluiu oito estudantes universitários de uma instituição pública. Utilizou-se entrevista semiestruturada, e os depoimentos foram gravados e transcritos na íntegra. O tratamento dos dados se deu por meio da análise de conteúdo. A maioria dos acadêmicos afirmou não ter estudado violência nos cursos de graduação. Por permitirem o desenvolvimento de habilidades para lidar com mulheres violentadas, as práticas educativas do projeto de extensão são significativas para seu aprendizado, contribuindo para a formação acadêmica e profissional, apesar das dificuldades vivenciadas no decorrer dessas atividades. Depreende-se, então, que se deve capacitar acadêmicos e profissionais de forma multidisciplinar para atuar no atendimento a vítimas de violência na comunidade. Palavras-chave: Saúde da mulher.
