O gênero Pfaffia Mart. (Amaranthaceae) no Brasil

Abstract: -(The genus Pfaffia Mart. (Amaranthaceae) in Brazil). A taxonopmic treatment of Pfaffia in Brazil is presented. It is a neotropical genus and Brazil is considered as the main diversity center. Pfaffia species occur mainly in open vegetation "cerrados", "campos rupestres", grasslands, forest edges, galery forests, and bruschwoods. The genus is represented in Brazil by 20 species. Descriptions, identification keys, nomenclatural comments, illustrations of the diagnostic caracters are presented together with info… Show more

“…This demonstrates the ability of this species to acquire, tolerate, and accumulate Cd in its tissues. Additionally, species of the genus Pfaffia are characterized by well-developed and bulky tuberous root systems (Marchioretto et al, 2010), and high uptakes and root retentions of Cd that argue for the use of Pfaffia glomerata in Cd-phytoextraction programs.…”

“…The Brazilian Amaranthaceae list (Table 1) was based on the research by the Brazilian taxonomists Marchioretto [15][16][17][18][19][20][21] and Siqueira [22][23][24][25] and on the most important taxonomic references to this Family both from the literature ( Table 2) and Brazilian Herbaria (Table 3). All cited Herbaria are listed according to the Index Herbariorum [26,27].…”

“…Different species can be very alike in habit and vegetative morphology. The correct identification depends almost exclusively on some flower details, whose small dimensions make it especially difficult to work in the field, demanding a highly specialized work, only partially carried out for this family (15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22).…”
