“…Organizations such as the National Institute of Nursing Research (2018) and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (2018) have identified symptom management as a focus for research, devoting grant dollars and education towards this area. Other professional organizations, such as the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (Welsh, Matzo, Hultman, & Reifsnyder, 2018) and the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (Stamp et al, 2018), have recognized symptom research and management as an important priority, as well. As the body of symptom research grows, it will become increasingly important to understand this knowledge in a more connected, holistic fashion (Cashion, Gill, Hawes, Henderson, & Saligan, 2016).…”

“…A recent position statement of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses has emphasized the importance of studying more family relationships in HF (Stamp et al, 2018) to provide patients and caregivers with more effective care. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of mutuality as a whole and of its dimensions on self-care maintenance, management, and confidence in HF patient–caregiver dyads.…”

“…The third domain encompasses diseases where nursing research is scarce, and as a result, more research is urgently called for. Stroke (Lightbody, 2017;Rowat et al, 2016), heart failure (Stamp et al, 2018), Parkinson's disease (Shin & Habermann, 2016), osteoarthritis (Robbins & Kulesa, 2012), diabetes (Graue et al, 2013;Iversen et al, 2016) and stoma (Hubbard et al, 2017) are considered to be the above-mentioned areas of diseases. With respect to nursing research on diabetes, Iversen et al (2016) believe that future research may benefit from larger nurse-led research programmes organized into networks to share knowledge and expertise across national groups.…”
