Numerical Simulations of Exposed Circular Surface of Rolled Homogeneous Armor Steel Plates Subjected to Blast Loadings by Using AUTODYN 2D

Abstract: Numerical predictions of responses of rolled homogeneous armour steel plates subjected to spherical trinitrotoluene blast loading plate are presented in this paper. Three simulation cases are modelled using a numerical simulation software, AUTODYN 2D in order to predict the plate deformations under blast loading effects of spherical trinitrotoluene high explosive charge. AUTODYN 2D utilises two dimensional modelling space or axisymmetric modelling space to simulate three dimensional actual experimental tests i… Show more

“…The investigations into the responses of structures due to blast loading have attracted attentions from researchers from all around the world for the past decades (Chen, Louca, & Elghazouli, 2015;Fallah et al, 2014;Geretto, Chung, & Nurick, 2015;Li, Wang, Zhu, Wu, & Zhao, 2014;Ma, Xin, Hu, & Zheng, 2013;Micallef, Fallah, Curtis, & Louca, 2016;Othman et al, 2015;Shen, Lu, Wang, & Zhao, 2010;Spiller, Packer, Seica, & Yankelevsky, 2016;Wang & Xiong, 2015;Zhang, Hao, & Wang, 2015). An experimental and numerical simulation studies to mitigate the effects of mine explosion experienced by the underneath section of an armoured personal carrier by using 'V-shaped' plates of 60°, 90°, 120°, 150° and 180° angles, had been successfully performed (Chung, Langdon, Nurick, Pickering, & Balden, 2012).…”
