Numerical Simulation of an Industrial Absorber for Dehydration of Natural Gas Using Triethylene Glycol

Abstract: Models of an absorber for dehydration of natural gas using triethylene glycol are presented. The models were developed by applying the law of conservation of mass and energy to predict the variation of water content of gas and the temperature of the gas and liquid with time along the packing height. The models were integrated numerically using the finite divided difference scheme and incorporated into the MATLAB code. The results obtained agreed reasonably well with industrial plant data obtained from an SPDC … Show more

“…In this study, the method of Gauss quadrature was applied. The Gauss quadrature [69][70][71] is considered to be one of the best stratified sampling methods that use function values at sampling points with corresponding weights. An example of the application of the Gauss quadrature is the representation of random variables using Hermite polynomials of normally distributed random variables, known as Gauss-Hermite quadrature [72,73].…”

“…Ibrahim (2022) [14], researched mathematical modelling and simulation of control strategies for stirrer tank reactors. According to the researcher, the concept of control theory is primarily aimed at responding to unsteady state operation by subjecting the control system to severe constraints in its operating space to ensure safe and maximum operation of the system to enhance economic efficiency or viability of the process [15,16]. The CSTR process configuration as applied in the industry is usually complex and incorporated with both process and manipulated variables which exhibit non-linear unsteady-state characteristics thereby necessitating the configuration of controllers in the reactors design.…”
