Numerical investigation of hybrid blend design target bullets

Abstract: Abstract. In the past few decades, researchers are involved in the studies of high-energy penetrator geometry and also the materials used for causing brutal damages on enemy targets. The highly focused area in this field is the shape of the nose and penetration angle of the penetrator. Hybrid blend design target bullets is one among the best aerodynamic design as it is having two different shapes within the nose. The design of these bullets plays an influential role in terms of aerodynamic characteristics and … Show more

“…Field and Stream is one of the pioneer research which gives a expanded view on the flow of bullet in air with a visual presentation of shockwaves, wake region, shear layer generated during bullet flow. The velocity contour & turbulence intensity of the hybrid ogive was first discussed in Muruganantham & Babin [8] , but the shockwave generation is not discussed in the journal. But in Menezes, & Maruta [9], Hypersonic flow over a multi-step after body gives us a detailed view about the shock wave generation at hypersonic speed in bullet body, which intern made us identify the shockwave generated in our bullet design.…”

“…The influence of a differently shaped front part of the bullet on the external ballistics performance was estimated by authors in refs. [7][8][9]. However, there is still a necessity for analyzing the external ballistic performance of two bullets, with different, beforementioned assembly methods which provide different possibilities of the méplat dimensions.…”
