Numerical and experimental study of the self‐priming process of a multistage self‐priming centrifugal pump

Abstract: Summary Pumps are a type of general machine with many varieties and extensive application. To simulate really the self‐priming process of multistage self‐priming centrifugal pump, the numerical calculation of gas‐water two‐phase flow on a four‐stage self‐priming pump was performed based on ANSYS CFX software. Moreover, a transparent plastic tube was installed at the pump outlet, and the photographic technology was used to observe the appearance of gas‐water escape during the self‐priming process of multistage … Show more

“…e results could help to establish the design requirements for a waterjet-propelled ship type. e design and optimization method of the inlet passage is an important part of the hydraulic optimization of the waterjet propulsion system, and its hydraulic performance directly affects the overall performance of the waterjet propulsion system [38][39][40]. e uneven outflow of the inlet passage will cause periodic pulsation of the propulsion pump, induce vibration, and reduce the efficiency of the propulsion pump.…”

“…Zhang et al [17] studied the control strategy of a hydraulic shaking table based on its structural flexibility. Qian and Wang et al [18,19] researched the effects of important elements, such as valves [20][21][22], pumps [23][24][25][26] and rotors [27], on stability. The influence of excitation forces on the vibration of a pump and measures of noise reduction were studied by Ye et al [28,29].…”

“…It is well known that pumps have huge energy consumption, and wall roughness has an important effect on pump efficiency [11][12][13][14][15][16]. In the process of using the double-channel sewage pump, the abrasion of the wall surface caused by the impurities in the transport medium and the damage of the blade surface caused by erosion will cause the change of the wall roughness, and roughness Ra is one of the important factors affecting the performance of the pump.…”
