Nuclear surface energy coefficients in cluster decay

In the present work, based on Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin theory, we systematically study the clusterradioactivity half-lives of 22 nuclei ranging from 221Fr to 242Cm by using a phenomenological model, which considersthe screened electrostatic effect of Coulomb potential. In this model, there are two adjustable parameters i.e. theparameter t and g, which are related to the screened electrostatic barrier and the strength of spectroscopic factor,respectively. The calculated results indicate this model can well reproduce the experimental data while the corre sponding root-mean-square (rms) deviation is 0.660. In addition, we extend this model to predict the half-lives ofpossible cluster radioactive candidates whose cluster radioactivity are energetically allowed or observed but notyet quantified in the evaluated nuclear properties table NUBASE2020. The predicted results are consistent withthe ones obtained by using other theoretical models and/or empirical formulae including the universal decay law(UDL) proposed by Qi et al. [Phys. Rev. C 80, 044326 (2009)], a semi-empirical model for both α decay and clusterradioactivity proposed by Santhosh et al. [J. Phys. G 35, 085102 (2008)] and a unified formula of half-lives for αdecay and cluster radioactivity proposed by Ni et al. [Phys. Rev. C 78, 044310 (2008)].

Simple model for cluster radioactivity half-lives in trans-lead nuclei*

In this study, considering the modified preformation probability to be , where and are the α-particle preformation probability and an adjustable parameter proposed by Wang et al. [Chin. Phys. C 45, 044111 (2021)], respectively, we extend a new simple model put forward by Bayrak [J. Phys. G 47, 025102 (2020)] to systematically study the cluster radioactivity half-lives of 28 trans-lead nuclei ranging from to , which is based on the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation and Bohr–Sommerfeld quantization condition. For comparison, a universal decay law proposed by Qi et al. [Phys. Rev. C 80, 044326 (2009)], a three-parameter model-independent formula put forward by Balasubramaniam et al. [Phys. Rev. C 70, 017301 (2004)], and the semi-empirical model proposed by Tavares et al. [Eur. Phys. J. A 49, 1 (2013)] are used. Our calculated results reproduce the experimental data well, with a standard deviation of 0.818. Furthermore, we use this model to predict the cluster radioactivity half-lives of 51 possible cluster radioactive candidates whose cluster radioactivities are energetically allowed or observed but not yet quantified in NUBASE2020.

Study of various ground state decay mechanisms of Actinide nuclei*

The special property of the actinide mass region is that the nuclei belonging to this group are radioactive and undergo different ground state processes such as alpha decay, cluster radioactivity (CR), heavy particle radioactivity (HPR) and spontaneous fission (SF) etc. In present work, the probable radioactive decay modes of the heavy mass region ( Z=89-102 ) are studied within the framework of the preformed cluster model (PCM). In PCM, the radioactive decay modes are explored in terms of the preformation probability ($P_0$) and the penetration probability ($P$) at turning point $R_a$ where penetration of fragments initiates [R$_a$ = R$_T$(touching state)+ $\Delta R$(neck length parameter)]. First of all, the alpha decay half-lives are calculated for light and heavy nuclei and $R_a$ points are obtained by optimizing neck length parameter. These $R_a$ points are further employed to fix Q-value dependent turning point ($R_a$(Q)). Then using ($R_a$(Q)) relation, the decay half-lives are computed and the calculated results are compared with the available theoretical and as well as with experimental data. The isotopical trend of $P_0$ and $P$ is studied with respect to the mass number of the parent and daughter nucleus respectively. The cluster radioactivity (CR) and heavy particle radioactivity (HPR) channels are also explored, and a comparison of calculated data is made with the available literature. The comparative analysis of the fragmentation potential and the preformation probability is carried out for the alpha emission and spontaneous fission(SF). The mass distribution of the nuclei is studied as a function of fragment mass (A$_2$) by taking spherical and hot-compact deformation of the decaying fragments. Finally, most probable fission fragments are identified using fragmentation structure and corresponding fission fragments total kinetic energy (TKE) of identified fragments is calculated and compared with available data, wherever applicable.
