“…This effect seen on metastasis is similar to the reduction of metastatic disease observed in human studies (Rothwell et al 2012b ). Similarly when syngeneic orthotopic breast cancer cell lines were injected into the fat pads of adult mice, those treated with a COX2 inhibitor showed signifi cantly fewer and smaller volume lung metastases, an action dependent on the M2 polarization of macrophages in the model (Retsky et al 2012 ). Data obtained from patients treated with mastectomy for breast cancer has revealed that use of perioperative NSAIDs signifi cantly improved disease free survival during the fi rst 5 years.…”

“…Recent studies have reported a correlation between systemic inflammation and cancer, suggesting that the immune response is crucial for cancer growth, progression, and treatment resistance, and that it is even associated with 26 demonstrated that perioperative use of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug ketorolac suppresses early breast cancer relapse, especially in patients with tnbc. Ono et al 27 reported that levels of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes are significantly higher in patients with tnbc and that high levels of tumour infiltrating lymphocytes are related to improved survival and pcr in the neoadjuvant setting.…”

“…Studies have also evaluated NSAIDs given in conjunction with chemotherapeutic agents to improve response rates to chemotherapy with success [45,46,49,50]. However, the majority of studies on the perioperative use of NSAIDs and their effects on cancer recurrence has been limited in sample size, retrospective reviews of human data [59,60], and animal studies [61].…”
