Novel Spectrofluorimetric Method for the Determination of Perindopril Erbumine Based on Charge Transfer Reaction with 7-Hydroxycoumarin

Abstract: A novel, simple, selective and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method was developed and validated for the determination of perindopril erbumine using 7-hydroxycoumarin. Perindopril erbumine was found to react with 7-hydroxycoumarin in acetonitrile resulting in a new fluorescent product with about 58 nm blue shifted emission. The fluorescence of the complex was measured at 440 nm after excitation at 350 nm in acetonitrile. Under the optimum conditions, the fluorescence intensity was linear over a concentration ra… Show more

“…Perindopril (PER) is an antihypertensive nonsulfhydryl angiotensin‐converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that is used to treat hypertension and stable coronary artery disease with the nomenclature of (2 S ,3 aS ,7 aS )‐1‐[(2 S )‐2‐[[(2 S )‐1‐ethoxy‐1‐oxopentan‐2‐yl]amino]propanoyl]‐2,3,3 a ,4,5,6,7,7 a ‐octahydroindole‐2‐carboxylic acid (Figure 1b). For determining PER alone or in combination, various analytical procedures have been published including spectrophotometry [3, 4, 7, 8, 43–45], spectrofluorimetry [46–49], and chromatographic approaches including TLC [30], LC–MS/MS [31] and HPLC [4, 34–36, 39, 50, 51].…”

“…The approach was simple, sensitive, and validated according to International Council on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. The proposed method had higher sensitivity than many of the previously reported methods [19, 20, 23, 25, 28, 46–49]. In addition, some of the reported methods required elevated temperature, were time consuming, and were carried out in the presence of concentrated acids [28, 49].…”

“…A survey of the literature revealed that UV (Nayak, Pillai, 2011;Kale et al, 2011), HPLC(El- Gizawy et al, 2014;Gizawy et al, 2013;Pattan, et al,2013;Singh et al, 2011), RP-HPLC (Chaudhary, Determination of perindopril erbumine by oxidative coupling reaction using 2, 6-dichloroquinone-4-chlorimide Patel, Chaudhary 2010;Mastannamma et al, 2016;Dugga, Peraman, Nayakanti, 2014;Joseph, Philip, 2011;Patel et al, 2011;Prajapati et al, 2011;Prameela Rani, Bala Sekaran, 2009), spectrofluorimetric (Fael Sakur 2015a. ;Fael Sakur 2015b), kinetic spectrophotometric (Rahman, Rahman, Haque, 2017;Rahman, Anwar, Kashif, 2006), LC-MS (Deepak, et al,2006) and GC-MS (Maurer, Kraemer, Arlt,1998) methods were reported for the estimation of PPE. There are limited spectrophotmetric methods (Sridevi,Jahnavi, Sekaran, 2012;Rahman,Rahman,Khatoon,2012;Rahman, Rahman 2011;Prameela Rani et al, 2012) are reported for the assay of perindopril erbumine (PPE).…”

“…The drug (PDE) is listed in the British Pharmacopoeia (3), Remington (4), and Physician's desk reference (5). A survey of the literature revealed that UV (6,7), HPLC (8)(9)(10)(11), RP-HPLC (12)(13)(14)(15)(16)(17)(18), spectrofluorimetric (19,20), UV-Visible spectrophotometric (21)(22)(23)(24), kinetic spectrophotometric (25,26), LC-MS (27,28), and GC-MS (29) methods were reported for the estimation of PPE. It was found that there are very few spectrophotometric methods are reported for the assay of PPE.…”
