Novel Compact CPW-Fed Antennas with Harmonic Suppression and Bandwidth Enhancement

Abstract: Novel compact CPW-fed antennas with harmonic suppression are presented and investigated in detail. By inserting symmetrical slots connected to the end of CPW transmission line in the ground plane, and exploiting parasitic technique, harmonic suppression, compact size, as well as wide bandwidth are obtained. General performances of the proposed antennas are studied by equivalent transmission line circuits. Moreover, the steps of constructing such harmonic suppression antennas are derived. Eventually, the experi… Show more

“…However, it is 40% greater on comparing to (Yun et al , 2021). The bandwidth attainment shows an increment of 79.8% (Li et al , 2018), 74.7% (Zhi-Li et al , 2012), 42.2% (Hou et al , 2021), 81.9% (Yun et al , 2021), 51.6% (Nie and Tu, 2021), 93.7% (Ahmad, 2022), 55.9% (Yun et al , 2020) and 59.4% (Pan et al , 2018) is observed. Using an FR4 substrate, a gain of 5.1 dBi (reference antenna) and 3.3 dBi (filtering antenna) is achieved from the simulated results. As for the measured results, a gain of 3 dBi is obtained for the proposed DCPW-fed filtering TCM. Regarding stopband efficiency, it is observed that an average improvement of 37.8% is accomplished using the proposed design.…”

“…On the other hand, higher antenna gain can be easily achieved through CPW-fed antennas due to the fact that it gets low radiation leakages [6]. CPW-fed antennas introduce good impedance matching [7], shunt and series connections on the same side without using via holes which result in its simple configuration, manufacturing advantages, and low cost [8]. However, CPW-fed antennas are seldom applied in mobile phones.…”
