“…Their total synthesis has been realized using raw materials such as 2-(F-alkylethyl)iodides according to Scheme 2. Furthermore, the 3-(F-alkyl)propyl-1,1-diacids are easily prepared (36,37) and their yields have recently been improved (6)(7)(8), which allows us to consider them as a raw material within our laboratory for the same reason as for the corresponding 2-(F-alkyl) ethylthiols, amines, and alcohols. So, the DC-n, p are achieved, from 2-F-alkylethylethyliodides as starting materials, with yields in the order of 23 to 36% according to the nature of the F-alkylated tail and the number of oxyethylene groups (Table 1), which are lower than those obtained from series C (58-64%), (33), but allow us to achieve stable surfactants against pH.…”

“…The synthesis of perfluorinated compounds such as malonic esters (6, 7), diacide (7,8), diacyl chloride (7, 9), diisocyanate (10), respectively compounds 1a-c, 2a-c, 3a-c, and 4a-c in Scheme 2, are described elsewhere.…”

“…All chemicals were purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Diethyl 2‐(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)malonate ( 1 ) was synthesized using a procedure reported in the literature . The synthesis of the other intermediates ( 2a , 2b , 2c , 3a , 3b , 3c as represented in Scheme ) is described below.…”

“…Compounds 2b and 2c were synthetized as described in the literature mixing K 2 CO 3 (1.2 equiv, 26 mmol), 1 (1 equiv, 22 mmol), and the corresponding 1‐bromoalkane (1 equiv, 22 mmol) in 100 mL of THF. The mixture was heated under reflux for 48 h. After cooling to room temperature, the salts were filtrated, 100 mL of water was added and the product was extracted with ethyl acetate.…”

“…The chemical way is schematized in Scheme 2. Here, the acids with both fluorinated and alkyl chains were synthesized using a procedure reported in the literature [38][39][40]. Then, the monomers were synthesized by esterification.…”
