The management of oil-producing reservoirs is a set of activities that aim to ensure and enhance their productivity. The formation damage management is one of these activities, whose objective is to identify and mitigate the reduction of reservoir permeability next to the well. Formation damage management techniques include analyzing well pressure and oil rate data collected continuously, mostly in periods when the well is closed to production, called build-ups. The identification of build-ups in the pressure data requires efficient and precise methods that reduce analysis efforts. Considering this context, this work discusses the semiautomatic identification of build-ups through two methods: using the first derivative and using a convolution filter, both of them with the support of DBSCAN clustering algorithm. Both methods were tested for synthetic pressure and oil rate data, having the convolution filter method showed better results. The obtained results suggest the method proved to be a reliable tool to aid in the identication of well build-ups.
