“…cavities and notches. It has been proved that these cavities and notches are closely related to the deformation behavior of the glass solids (Chen and Dai, 2016;Pan et al, 2015;Sha et al, 2019;Singh et al, 2013). On the other hand, the current analysis is applicable only in the case of homogeneous deformation.…”

“…Previously, some works reported that the change of notch depth may affect the fracture mode or alter the deformation mechanism from a shear banding state to a mixed mode with a sudden necking event. 27,55 Figure 8 illustrates the stress-strain curves of Cu 54 Zr 46 MG with different notch depths along with the strain snapshots captured at a certain strain value. According to the results, the ultimate strength with notch depths of 2, 4, and 8 nm is 2.81 GPa, 3.11 GPa, and 3.91 GPa, respectively.…”

“…Pan et al 26 prepared the notched amorphous rods and induced structural rejuvenation under a tri-axial compression at room temperature and revealed that the MG sample exhibited exceptionally efficient strain-hardening under the compressive load. Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, sha et al 27 investigated the geometry of notch on the mechanical properties of MGs and unveiled that the symmetric double-edge notched MGs led to a notch strengthening effect, especially with the increase of notch depth or sharpness. The MD simulation also indicated that the notch shape of MGs induced the formation of dense atomic arrangements in the notch-affected zone, leading to the extension of the deformation area and the improvement of strengthening effects in the amorphous alloy.…”

“…For uniaxial tension tests, PBCs are imposed along all three dimensions. Tension deformation at a rate of 1 × 10 8 s −1 is applied along the x-direction, and the system temperature is held at 300 K [ 35 ]. The pressure in the y- and z-directions is kept at zero using the constant number, pressure, and temperature (NPT) ensemble, allowing for lateral expansion.…”
