Normative data of the SF-12 health survey with validation using postmyocardial infarction patients in the Dutch population

Abstract: Objective To gain Dutch population norms for the Short Form-12 (SF-12), a generic health status questionnaire, in a random sample of the general population and to validate these in postmyocardial infarction (MI) patients. “…Mean SF-12 scores in at least well-controlled asthmatics approached general population norms and those observed in a recent Dutch sample of the general population [22], whereas those scores for patients with uncontrolled asthma were markedly lower than normative values. The differences in physical and mental component scores, as well as the individual dimensions, between the groups with at least well-controlled and not well-controlled asthma also exceeded the pre-defined minimum clinically important difference.…”

Although still under debate, several studies have observed a relationship between QoL, depression, anxiety and worse long-term health outcomes (9)(10)(11)(12)(13).…”
