Nonplanar Nanographenes Based on Tribenzotriquinacene or Fenestrindane Core

Abstract: Our recent research efforts on the synthesis of nonplanar nanographenes bearing tribenzotriquinacene or fenestrindane skeleton are summarized. Wizard hat-shaped or saddle-shaped nanographenes could be prepared using a non-classical Scholl-type cycloheptatriene formation or 19-membered ring macrocyclization. The key to the success of these transformation relies on the proper installation of the electron rich aryl functional groups in the bay areas of these molecular motifs. The three-dimensional structures of s… Show more

“…Although the design of TQ-graphene is based on the TQ skeleton, it remains challenging to prepare TQ-graphene from TQ molecules. Fortunately, significant progress has been made in recent years in synthesizing carbon-based 2D networks that incorporate a TQ scaffold. We anticipate that these findings of TQ-graphene make it a promising candidate anode material for SIBs and await experimental confirmation.…”
