Nonomuraea insulae sp. nov., isolated from forest soil

Abstract: Strain H2R21, a novel actinobacterium, isolated from a forest soil sample collected from Heybeliada, Istanbul, Turkey, and a polyphasic approach was used for characterisation of the strain. Chemotaxonomic and morphological characterisation of strain H2R21 indicated that it belongs to the genus Nonomuraea. 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity showed that the strain is closely related to Nonomuraea purpurea 1SM4-01 (99.1%) and Nonomuraea solani CGMCC 4.7037 (98.4%). DNA-DNA relatedness values were found to be lower… Show more

“…The phylogenomic tree () reconstructed on the TYGS (https://tygs.dsmz.de/) also revealed the tendency of the strains to the genus Streptomyces . DNA–DNA hybridization (DDH) analyses were carried out as detailed in the previous study [24] between the isolate YC419 T and its closely phylogenetic neighbour, S. vastus DSM 40309 T , the only strain that shares a 16S rRNA similarity value above the critical 98.65 % value [25].…”

“…In addition, it is known that Nonomuraea rosea, Nonomuraea roseoviolacea, Nonomuraea rubra, Nonomuraea pusilla, Nonomuraea spiralis and Nonomuraea gerenzanensis produce deoxycephalomycin B, carminomicins, maduromycin, actinotiocin, pyralomicin and glycopeptide antibiotic A40926 [9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. Members of the genus have been isolated from diverse natural habitats such as rhizosphere [16,17], leaf [18], cave [19], limestone mine [20], root [5,21], coastal sediment [22], mangrove sediment [23] and mushroom compost [24], while many members were isolated from different types of soil including cave soil [25], forest soil [26,27], arid soil [28], acidic soil [29], rhizosphere soil [3,[30][31][32] and mangrove soil [33].…”
