Summary In this paper, the tracking control problem is considered for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with infinite discontinuous points in the external disturbance. The extended state observer–based 2‐degree‐of‐freedom control is used with one degree to estimate and cancel the “total disturbance” and the other to force the closed‐loop system to have desired characteristics. The tracking error between the state vector and its ideal trajectory in the entire transient process is adequately discussed to illuminate the performance of resulting control systems. The quantitative analysis shows that the tracking error can be small enough by tuning the bandwidth of the extended state observer. Moreover, the necessary and sufficient condition for the tracking error and the estimation error of the “total disturbance” to converge to zero is presented. The simulation results of a motion test demonstrate that the desired performance of the control system can be achieved despite discontinuous disturbance and nonlinear uncertainties.

Insufficient frequency regulation capability and system inertia reduction are common problems encountered in a power grid with high wind power penetration, mainly due to the reason that the rotor energy in doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) is isolated by the grid side converters (GSCs), and also due to the randomness and intermittence of wind power which are not as stable as traditional thermal power sources. In this paper, the frequency inertia response control of a DFIG system under variable wind speeds was investigated. First, a DFIG system topology with rotor-side supercapacitor energy storage system (SCESS-DFIG) was introduced. Then a control strategy for frequency inertia response of SCESS-DFIG power grid under fluctuating wind speed was designed, with two extended state observers (ESOs) which estimate the mechanical power captured by the DFIG and the required inertia response power at the grid frequency drops, respectively. Based on one inconstant wind speed model and the SCESS-DFIG system model adopting the control strategy established, one power grid system consisting of three SCESS-DFIGs with different wind speed trends and a synchronous generator was simulated. The simulation results verified the effectiveness of the SCESS-DFIG system structure and the control strategy proposed.

In this paper, the development of a flexure-based twodegree-of-freedom (2-DOF) nanomanipulator with modified differential lever displacement amplifier is conducted, which aims to break through the millimeter-range barrier. The kinetostatics modeling of the mechanism is established by using the pseudorigid body method, also the analytical modeling of lever is built up, as well as the dimension optimizations and the mechanism performance validations are conducted by using the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm and the finite-element analysis method, respectively. With the consideration of hysteresis effect inherent in piezoelectric ceramics actuators, the hysteresis modeling is conducted by using the Preisach theory. To enhance the mechanism positioning performance, a novel feedforward nonlinear proportionintegration-differentiation control strategy composed by the nonlinear PID controller and the inverted Preisach hysteresis compensator is proposed in this paper. Finally, a series of closed-loop motion tracking experiments have been carried out. It indicates that the developed mechanism has achieved a millimeter workspace (3.1273 mm × 26.5 • ), nanometer scale motion resolution (40 nm), as well as a closed-loop positioning bandwidth of over 10 Hz.Index Terms-Feedforward nonlinear PID (FNPID), hysteresis compensator, lever displacement amplifier, nanomanipulator, pseudorigid body.
