Abstract:The mechanism of noise and vibration generation in an impact forming machine is investigated using Fourier Transform methods. Noise, vibration, and load measurements have been correlated for a fixed input energy and the sound field around the machine investigated. The measured results are compared with those predicted by a lumped parameter computer model for determining the normal modes of vibration of the machine structure and the moving platen. It is found that the major proportion of the noise energy is gen… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
