Show more
“…The rebound block, action dominated by the centers in this study, reinforces the finding that it requires a strate-gic and specific position on the court so that if a basket is not converted, the player is in an appropriate position to gain possession of the ball 40 . Thus, it is essential for players of this position to perform well in this action, as this feature requires a better posture of the athlete in moments preceding and/or following the action of the ball towards the basket 41 and prevent the action of the opposing team.…”
This study aimed to analyze the level of technical-tactical performance of female basketball base players, considering the association between the game actions and the specific positions performed by the players. Methods: Twenty-six players from a basketball club in the state of Santa Catarina (Brazil) participated. The performance was analyzed with the aid of the Individual Technical-Tactical Basketball Performance Assessment Instrument (IAD-BB). The statistical treatment involved the use of descriptive (simple and percentage frequency) and inferential (Pearson's Chi-square test, Cramer's V coefficients, adjusted residuals), adopting a 5% significance level for the interpretation of the results. Results: It was found a statistically significant association of the functions performed by the players with the actions of reception, dribble, throw, marking and rebound block. The guards performed better in the reception, dribble and clearing actions, the centers were better in rebound block, throw and clearing, while the forwards showed better performance in clearing and rebound block. Conclusion: It is concluded that the analysis of tacticaltechnical performance, considering the actions and specific positions of female players, is necessary for a better understanding of the factors that influence their performance in the game. Results are discussed with the literature and suggestions are made for future research in order to expand the quantity and quality of evidence in sports performance analysis.

“…The observation criteria of the performance were the following: adjustment, considering movements and postures performed before, during and after contact with the ball (technical); efficiency, defined as technical execution (technical); decision-making, referring to the choices made in the game (tactical); and effectiveness, as the observable result of the action with regard to its goal (outcome). 32 The volleyball fundamentals were described as: defense—the action performed to prevent the opposite team from scoring, aiming to control the ball for the construction of attack; setting—the action that seeks to facilitate the attack through a pass or a forearm pass; and attack—the action that makes the ball cross the plane of the net to the opponent's side, aiming to score. The study variables, as well as their respective components and indicators are shown in Tables 1, 2 and 3 as proposed by Collet et al 30…”
Purpose: To compare the tactical-technical behavior of volleyball players according to the manipulation of court size in small-sided games. Method: We analyzed the tactical-technical behaviors of 16 male players (12.2 ± 0.5 years and 1.2 ± 0.8 years of practice) using the components of the GPAI instrument (Adjustment, efficiency, decision-making and effectiveness) validated for volleyball. To this end, we examined 1614 transition actions (defense, setting and attack) from games played in four court dimensions (3.0 × 3.0m, 4.0 × 4.0m, 4.6 × 4.6m and 5.2 × 5.2m). Altogether 96 Volleyball games were analyzed. Results: The smaller area per player favored technical skills development, specifically defensive and offensive ones. On the other hand, a larger area per player promoted higher scores in decision-making and effectiveness. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that the players’ behaviors in small-sided games depend on the game configurations, since modifications in the tactical-technical behavior emanate from the game ecology. Thus, the court size manipulation is a powerful pedagogical tool that deeply relates to learning outcomes. Coaches must consider such constraints in the teaching-learning process, since small-sided games manipulations should be linked with clear learning goals.
