Nitrogen‐Doped Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes Grown on Substrates: Evidence for Framework Doping and Their Enhanced Properties

Abstract: Nitrogen-doped single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are synthesized directly on silicon and quartz substrates through a normal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Thermogravimetry mass spectrometry measurements and Raman spectroscopy give fi rm evidence for framework nitrogen doping. X-ray-photoelectron-spectroscopy analysis further obtains the bonding style of the nitrogen atoms in the carbon framework. The nitrogen doping signifi cantly changes the properties of the SWCNTs. All of the tubes behave lik… Show more

“…Other electrophilic species such as O 2 and Fe 3+ were also possible to be detected using NCNTs-based electrochemical sensors [704]. Electrocatalytic oxidation of NO is enhanced by N doping of carbon lattice, giving rise to a possibility of easy detection and removal of NO by NCNSs electrodes [198,227,228,702].…”

“…[30,[202][203][204][205][206][207][208][209][210][211][212][213] Various nitrogen-containing precursors such as ammonia, pyridine, and acetonitrile have been used. Similar to the case of water, the nitrogen-containing molecule dissociates on the surface of the metal catalyst.…”

“…[12] The Ramans pectrum of the BNC ( Figure S1) shows the two characteristic bands of graphite at approximately 1350 (Dband) and 1600 cm À1 (G-band), which indicates thee xistence of the sp 2 -hybridized carbon network of graphite. [13] In addition, it is well known that the relative intensities of D-a nd Gbands (I D /I G )a re inverselyp roportionalt ot he crystallite size of graphite. The BNC had an I D /I G ratio of 0.84, which indicates the good graphitized structure of the BNC.…”
