This paper seeks to investigate the relationship between change communication approaches and rising infections in Covid-19 in Nigeria. There are heavily sponsored media campaigns for disease prevention in forms of media advocacy and social mobilization by media organizations, Government and Non-Governmental Organizations, but cases of infections have been on the steady rise. Being correlational research, this study adopts a survey design, using quantitative and qualitative methods to elicit data from the study population. The population of this study included five (5) university Professors and three (3) media practitioners who responded in a personal communication on why media campaign for disease prevention is not as successful as intended, and 334 respondents whose reactions to the change communication approaches in media campaigns in cases of Covid-19 were examined. Findings revealed that most Nigerians were not responding adequately to the change communication strategy and preventive message campaign appeals to wash their hands thoroughly under running water, avoid crowded spaces, and use hand sanitizers. Findings also revealed that the non-availability of the materials and products such as running taps and the high cost of hand sanitizers militated against the people's ability to act. The study recommended that the Federal Government make available all that the people needed to comply with the messages by creating the deserved enabling environment. At the same time, communication strategists should use the appropriate language and appeals that are compatible with the plight of the people.

The present study explores the effect of a pandemic on home-based tourism and tourists' decision to appreciate and patronize local indigenous sites, theater, and other tourism activities. An increase in the global spread of COVID-19 pandemic and incessant rise in deaths especially in renowned destinations, travel restrictions and subsequent closure of international tourist sites; have pulled Nigerian tourists’ motivation away from international destinations. A survey of 250 frequent Nigerian travelers reported their cultural experiences before and during the pandemic and their decision to patronize Homebased tourist-oriented activities. Major reasons for the push from international destinations by respondents were fear of COVID-19 infection, fear of death and stigmatization. Major reasons for pull were the low rate of spread, low deaths, and local traditional remedies availability. While the former were major push factors identified, the latter were perceived as pull factors. However, respondents never considered facilities, weather, and airfares. Thus, this research significantly models local indigenous tourist sites' projection and cultural activities as tools for revitalizing home-based tourism in the post COVID – 19 era. It calls on government, tourism industry and private firms to turn attention towards the revitalization of local indigenous tourist sites and cultural activities to attract tourists to enhance sustainable home-based tourism development.

This study explored the impact of the popular reality TV show, Big Brother 'Titans', on cable subscriptions among GOTV subscribers in Uyo. A survey questionnaire was distributed among a representative sample of 322 GOTV subscribers in Uyo, focusing on their viewership habits, motivations for subscribing to GOTV, and the influence of Big Brother 'Titans' on their subscription decisions. The findings revealed that Big Brother 'Titans' has a significant impact on the cable subscription patterns of GOTV subscribers in Uyo. The majority of respondents reported watching the show regularly and acknowledged that it was a primary reason for their subscription. The captivating nature of the show, coupled with its interactive elements and the sense of community it fostered, emerged as key motivators for maintaining their GOTV subscriptions. The study concluded that "Big Brother Titans" show has become a major draw for viewers, prompting them to opt for cable subscriptions that offer access to the show. This demonstrates the power of compelling content in shaping consumer behavior and influencing market dynamics. Furthermore, the study recommended that GOTV should offer flexible subscription packages: This can include the ability to add or remove channels based on individual preferences. By allowing subscribers to customize their cable package, they can ensure access to the Big Brother Titans show without being constrained by unnecessary channels or costs.
