NexGen D-TCP: Next Generation Dynamic TCP Congestion Control Algorithm

Abstract: With the advancement of wireless access networks and mmWave New Radio (NR), new applications emerged, which requires a high data rate. The random packet loss due to mobility and channel conditions in a wireless network is not negligible, which degrades the significant performance of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The TCP has been extensively deployed for congestion control in the communication network during the last two decades. Different variants are proposed to improve the performance of TCP in va… Show more

“…Among the other TCPs, BBR can attain higher throughputs than loss-based TCPs, as they lose their performance as random packet losses increase in the network. The degradation of different TCPs performance in lossy environments was also proved in [35]. The interesting part of higher throughput for FB-TCP is that it can achieve this value through acceptable RTTs, as seen in Figure 33.…”

“…The highly variable channel conditions in the mmWave band and the lack of the TCP CC algorithm that can completely alleviate the impact of channel fluctuations on CC performance have led the authors in Ref. [ 81 ] to introduce a new Dynamic TCP (D-TCP) CC algorithm ( Table 2 ). D-TCP is an enhanced TCP CC algorithm specifically designed for mmWave 5G networks.…”

“…The authors in Ref. [ 81 ] have analysed and compared the performance of the D-TCP with the NewReno, BIC, CUBIC and BBR algorithms using the mmWave ns-3 module ( Table 2 ). The simulations were performed for two different scenarios.…”
