Newly synthesized homomultinuclear Co (II) and Cu (II) bissalamo‐like complexes: Structural characterizations, Hirshfeld analyses, fluorescence and antibacterial properties

Abstract: Rare homodinuclear Co (II) complex [Co2(L)NO3] (1) and helical centrosymmetric homotetranuclear Cu (II) complex [Cu4(L)2(H2O)2]·2ClO4 (2), have been synthesized by a newly explored bis (salamo)‐like tetraoxime ligand (H3L) with Co (NO3)2·6H2O and Cu (ClO4)2·6H2O, respectively, and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy and single crystal X‐ray crystallography. X‐ray crystallographic studies indicate that the two Co (II) atoms (Co1 and Co2) in complex 1 have different N2O4 and N2O3 coordin… Show more

“…The fluorescence on-off phenomenon in the coordination reaction of the salamo-based ligands and Cu II ions can be used to identify and detect Cu II ions in the environment [39][40][41][42]. According to a large amount of preliminary research works [43][44][45][46][47][48][49], here, a non-symmetrical salamo-derived compound H 2 L was prepared, several single crystals of its Cu II complex were obtained by natural evaporation method in chloroform/ethanol mixed solvent at room temperature in about one month, and the structures and properties of H 2 L and its Cu II complex were further characterized by various modern analytical techniques.…”

“…“Salen-type” ligands are a class of coordination compounds produced when a bisaldehyde condenses with a diamine. The introduction of large electronegative oxygen atoms to the CN–group of salen-type ligands results in salamo-type probes with improved coordination flexibility, structural stability, high selectivity, and sensitivity. Based on this background, Guo et al prepared a rigid structured fluorescent probe 1 with naphthol units and π-conjugation for dual-channel detection of H 2 S . The sensor worked in a wide pH range of 4–9 with a response time of <3 s. The deprotonation of the hydroxyl groups hindered the ICT in the probe in the presence of H 2 S, which resulted in vivid changes in the FL intensity, facilitating the detection of the biothiol.…”
