Newly Isolated Paenibacillus monticola sp. nov., a Novel Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria Strain From High-Altitude Spruce Forests in the Qilian Mountains, China

Abstract: Species in the genus Paenibacillus from special habitats have attracted great attention due to their plant growth-promoting traits. A novel plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) species in the genus Paenibacillus was isolated from spruce forest at the height of 3,150 m in the Qilian Mountains, Gansu province, China. The phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA, rpoB, and nifH gene sequences demonstrated that strain LC-T2T was affiliated in the genus Paenibacillus and exhibited the highest sequence similar… Show more

“…Paenibacillus spp. recently emerged as a powerful and promising PGPR that can be widely applied to enhance growth and disease resistance in several important plants [ 49 , 50 , 51 ]. According to the NCBI-BLAST analysis, the nucleotide sequence of 16S rRNA of SZYM (1468 bp) had a similarity of 99% with other P. polymyxa isolates.…”

“…To investigate the phylogenetic relationships of the HD-Zip members among different plants, multiple HD-Zip amino acid sequences were aligned via Clustal 2.1 software using the default settings to examine the evolutionary relationships among the sequences. A phylogenetic tree was constructed with MEGA7.0 software with 1000 bootstrap replicates according to the maximum-likelihood (ML) method ( Li et al, 2022 ).…”

“…Table 1 presents a summary of recently described PGPB examples and isolation sites. PGPB are diverse within Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial groups and ubiquitous in different ecological niches, as demonstrated by Paenibacillus monticola from High-Altitude Spruce Forests in the Qilian Mountains (Li et al, 2022a), Streptomyces adelaidensis root of Callitris preissii (Kaewkla et al, 2021), Devosia rhizoryzae and (Table 1). Many more PGPB are expected to emerge in the future.…”
